Systemic Alley is your complete guide to the murky waters of OS217. It will contain a synthesis of all messages sent via the UPCM 2014 mailing group, from transes, through uploaded files from facuilty, to cases for SGDs and grand rounds.
OS217 FAQ:
1) Who do I turn to if I have questions or feel lost?
--Ask your LO at 0915 711 8673. Having asked many of them in the past, I don't actually object to stupid questions haha.
2) What is OS217 anyway?
--OS217 or the Systemic Disease module is a four-week course handled by different departments. As characterized by the course coordinator, it's a hodgepodge of all the diseases not readily classifiable to an organ system. There are three modules:
a) IDS or infectious diseases, handled by pedia, medicine, and micro/para; the IDS module will take the first two weeks, from June 21 to July 1.
b) Oncology, from July 4 (Monday) to July 12 (Tuesday), spanning a week and a half.
c) Trauma, from July 12 (Tuesday) to July 15.
3) Benign ba?
--According to the course coordinator, the course is benign and we'll have some free time on our hands. He advises us to use that time to read.
4) I didn't get a copy of a schedule/I lost my copy. Can I get another hard copy or a soft copy?
--There are spare copies in my trans box, the last time I checked. Also, for the soft copy, no, sorry, it will have to wait until Tuesday evening (June21). I left my own copy of the schedule in Manila and anyway they didn't give us any soft copies.
Also, the schedule you were given is only for the first two weeks (IDS MODULE). The schedule for the ONCOLOGY MODULE (third week to middle of fourth week) is uploaded HERE.
The fourth week's schedule has not yet been given (TRAUMA MODULE).
5) What do I read in advance for OS217?
--Apparently there is no one book. You can look at your schedule and the topics therein and search Harrison's and the other books we already have.
